Terms of Service

Last updated: July 21, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using TapCam ("the Software", "the Application"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you must uninstall the Software and stop using it.

These Terms are a legally binding agreement between you ("you") and TapCam ("we", "us", "our"). You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to use the Software.

2. Description of the service

TapCam is a Windows application that provides:

  • A virtual webcam, fed by your phone camera over your local network, that any app can use
  • The ability to link several phones and switch which one feeds the camera
  • Optional local recording of the feed to a video file on your PC

The video is sent directly from the phone to the PC over your network. No video is uploaded to our servers.

3. Software license

TapCam is proprietary software. It includes third-party components that remain under their own respective licenses.

You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use TapCam, free of charge, for personal or professional purposes, subject to these Terms and to the licenses of the underlying components. An optional paid PRO license removes the watermark; it does not otherwise change these Terms.

You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the TapCam application except as permitted by applicable law.

4. Purchases and refunds

A PRO license is a one-time purchase, processed by our reseller Lemon Squeezy, who acts as the merchant of record. Your license key works on a limited number of your own PCs. If something is wrong with your purchase, contact us and we will help; refunds are handled according to the reseller policy shown at checkout.

5. Your content and responsibility

You keep full ownership of everything your camera captures. We claim no rights over it and, because the feed stays on your devices, we never have access to it.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that what you stream through the virtual camera complies with applicable laws and does not infringe the rights of others.

6. Prohibited uses

You agree not to use the Software to:

  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity where it is illegal or harmful
  • Bypass identity verification or authentication systems
  • Engage in fraud, harassment, stalking, or any illegal activity
  • Use the Software in any way that could cause harm, damage, or legal liability to others

7. Intellectual property

The TapCam application, including its interface design, icons, and documentation, is the intellectual property of its creators. Third-party components remain governed by their own respective licenses.

The TapCam name, logo, and related trademarks are our property. You may not use them without prior written consent, except as needed to refer to our product in a factual, non-misleading way.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Software will meet your requirements, run without interruption, be error-free, or be compatible with any particular hardware, software, or network. Streaming quality depends on your phone, your PC, and your Wi-Fi.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TAPCAM, ITS DEVELOPERS, AFFILIATES, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.

In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, our liability shall be limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TapCam and its developers from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and costs arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Software; (b) what you stream through the virtual camera; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

11. Termination

You may end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the Software. On termination, your license to use the Software is immediately revoked.

Sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law survive termination.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If no resolution is reached, it shall be submitted to the competent courts of France.

13. Severability and waiver

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, it shall be adjusted to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions stay in full effect. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of it.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the revision date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Software after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
